Stuff Sacks

Stuff Sacks are ideal for packing your gear for camping trips.  They can be purchased ina variety sizes and colors so you can locate which Stuff Sack you need without tearing a backpack completely a part.  By putting toiletries in a small Stuff Sack and clothes in larger Stuff Sacks you can pull out an extra pair of socks while hiking and be back on the trail in no time.  Stuff Sacks can also be used with compression straps to save room.  If space is limited like on a kayak trip, more than one person could store their Stuff Sacks in the same waterproof container.  This also lightens up the load so more group gear can be taken.

Both styles of Stuff Sacks come in compression style, to compactly stow gear neatly.  You can also put small Stuff Sacks into other compression type dry bags; depending on where your journey takes you.
  • Backpacking in New Mexico we used the standard drawstring Stuff Sacks to keep the weight to a minimum.  The last thing we wanted to do was carry anything more than was needed.
  • Canoeing down the Allegany River the waterproof Stuff Sacks with the roll top handles were used.  We were able to tie them off to the seat support in case we flipped.
