Eureka Backpacks

Many hikers and campers, from the past century have put their trust in Eureka backpacks.  The company out of New York is well known for their camping and outdoor products, and also for donating their products to highly motivated explorers.  While they are probably most known for their tents, Eureka backpacks are recognized as a leader in outdoor activities.

Eureka backpacks come in three different designs:
  1. frameless
  2. external frame
  3. internal frame
Frameless designs are the most common ones.  These bags are commonly known as “book bags,” and have a variety of uses.  Students use this style of bag to hold their books while commuting back and forth to class.  Hikers who may be out for the day are known to use Eureka Backpacks of this style, bearing only the essentials for the trip.

External styles are the original and most common type seen on camping trips.  They have metal bars on the outside that serve as the frame, and also the purpose of an outer cargo area.  Uses of the Eureka Backpack’s storage are commonly larger items such as tents, sleeping bags, and floor mats. Eureka backpacks also contain a drawstring pouch for additional gear.

Internal style of Eureka backpacks is a little smaller in size and cost less.  The lightweight of these proves to be a positive attribute to most campers and hikers.  This type contains alternative storage areas, such as sewn on straps as well as drawstrings on the outside, similar to the original style Eureka backpacks. While on a recent trek our group had two of the three styles in use and everyone packed a little differently.  No one had to go without anything essential, and were able to carry everything needed for the weekend.  We adjusted to our equipment and the trip was a success.

Whether you are:

  • a day hiker whom needs a book bag for the bare essentials,
  • the weekend camper who needs a large one for its storage for your bulky items, or the
  • trekker needing a lightweight and less bulky style,
Eureka backpacks has the one you are looking for.
