Butane Camp Stoves

Purchased by avid backpackers, the Butane Camp Stoves are lightweight and compact. The small size of the Butane Camp Stoves are great for one or two people to use, but not economical for a group.  Fueled by pressurized canisters including propane gas, they will not slow down the active hiker.
  • The tanks of the Butane Camp Stoves either screw on to a burner directly or have a flexible hose to connect them.  The screw on burner type is not real stable though, and requires a very flat surface to stand on.  The use of a smaller pot is best to keep it balanced.  The Butane Camp Stoves that have the hose attaching the canister is more stable as the burner sits on legs closer to the ground.

  • To light the Butane Camp Stoves, all that needs to be done is attach the hose or tank to the burner head, open the valve and put a match to the burner.  Some of the newer models of Butane Camp Stoves can be bought with an automatic or push button lighter to eliminate the problem of lost or wet matches.  With proper maintenance, the Butane Camp Stoves may last your lifetime.

  • The Butane Camp Stoves are ideal three season cookers that work better in temperatures above freezing and in low wind conditions.  If it is breezy, you will have to protect the flame for maximum performance.  The fuel for Butane Camp Stoves is safer to use, as there is nothing to spill and ignite the ground surface.  This will make “Smoky the Bear” very happy.

Always acquire the proper equipment and practice putting together the Butane Camp Stove prior to using it on the trail.  Practicing lighting it and cooking on it before heading out on an excursion, will give you a good idea of how the Butane Camp Stove operates and how long it will take you to boil water.  Nothing is worse than getting ready for a meal and finding out that you don’t have all of the parts for the Butane Camp Stoves.  Now go and enjoy your Butane Camp Stove and the great outdoors.
