Battery Powered Lighting

 

When you want to see inside your tent at night, the safest way is with out a flame.  That’s when Battery Powered Lighting comes in real handy.  You don’t have to worry about youngsters or yourself knocking them over causing an accident.  They can be used to look through duffel bags without waking anyone or for illuminating the whole tent for activities.

You can purchase Battery Powered lighting like the following:
  • Lanterns, usually have fluorescent type tubes to maximize illumination for campsites or in tents to make game playing or reading easier.

  • Flashlights, the most popular Battery Powered Lighting, come in various sizes that make them great for stowing in a backpack. You can use ones that clip to your belt to cut down on weight that produces a more direct.  Larger ones have a bigger reflector, which produces a wider pattern.

  • Headlamps, are great for night hiking or setting up camp after dark.  This type of Battery Powered Lighting allows for hands free illumination that you may need for the project at hand, making things go a lot smoother.

  • Combination lamp and fan is great for inside he tent on warm evenings when you must get in out of the weather or bugs. You can circulate the air when stuck inside the tent.  You wouldn’t want to backpack long distances with Battery Powered Lighting like this.

Different types of Battery Powered Lighting require different batteries sizes.  This should be taken into consideration when buying them.  The small compact Battery Powered Lighting units will generally use AA batteries while the larger ones may require C, D or even a six volt.  You can use rechargeable ones if you will be around electricity sometime during your outing.  Just remember that a charger is another thing to carry along with you.

It is always best to buy a variety of Battery Powered Lighting sources to take with you when you venture out.  A headlamp would be one of the first ones I would acquire along with a small belt type.  This way they take the same size of power source.  Any time you can double up the Battery Powered Lighting power source, you can save space and cut down on the amount of weight you must carry.  It may not seem like a big deal, but you also have to bring the used ones from the Battery Powered Lighting fixtures home with you.

Never dispose of anything from the Battery Powered Lighting along the trail.  Packing it out with you will keep the environment clean and will keep it looking great for years to come.  Please respect others and leave the outdoors cleaner than when you got there.
